At Room Mate Hotels design plays a crucial role. Renowned designers such as Patricia Urquiola, Lázaro Rosa Violán, Tomás Alía, Lorenzo Castillo, Pascua Ortega and Teresa Sapey, among others, have been the architects of the design of the establishments throughout the world.
We would like to highlight two of their hotels: Room Mate Giulia in Milan and Room Mate Emir in Istanbul Room
Mate Giulia: The hotel is located in the heart of Milan, a few steps from Piazza Duomo and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, it has 85 rooms divided into 4 categories. Designed by Patricia Urquiola, Room Mate Giulia has a great connection with the city of Milan, thanks to the materials and elements used.
The floor of the hotel lobby is made of pink marble, the same one used in the Duomo in Milan, following the line of the latest projects by the Spanish designer. The predominance of this color in her work has made it almost one of her main hallmarks. Terracotta bricks, another typical characteristic of Milanese architecture, are used in the curved wall of the lobby creating a three-dimensional effect. The recurring geometric patterns reflect the rigor of the city and also refer to the graphic arts, an important element of Milan’s cultural history. The rooms refer to the typical Italian domestic spaces, with a vintage touch.
